Our programs, their experience

We want to create a safe learning environment, that teaches communication, leadership skills as well as fitness. We want to introduce children to the competitive spirit and combine it with learning and understanding sportsmanship. Most important, we want the children to enjoy every minute of their experiences with HSA.

Soccer

Known across the world as the beautiful game; because it is played the world over. This is the sport of kings and the goal for HSA is not to just focus on teaching the game of soccer but to teach life skills that make this one of the more communicative sport played, while understanding the beautiful game.

Flag Football

One of the more dynamic games played, but also one of the safest way to play one of the funnest games; football. Do you remember touch football on the schoolyard? Well we just add a few flags and you’re off juking and jiving on te field.

Pickleball

A fun way for kids to develop hand to eye coordination, and the only difference is, we can teach pickleball in various ways so that they don’t get lost in the skills. Lots of movement, lot’s of speed, and lot’s of fun, and all under one roof!

Ultimate Frisbee

This is a fast paced running game, that also requires great aim. The sport that is self governed and teaches true sportsmanship where the players are also the refs!

Street Hockey

Canada’s pastime for kids, and we’re bringing it to an outdoor rink so you won’t have to yell car! What a great sport that is part of the very fabric of Canadian culture, and happens to be a blast to teach, play, and coach!

Badminton

Quick and agile, whether they play as individuals or in pairs, this sport literally keeps the kids on their toes. The beauty of this sport it won’t just improve their agility, it will help their hand eye coordination as well.

Volleyball

Whether you’re tall or not, whether you got hops or not, whether you’re young or old, there really is no substitute for the sport of volleyball! It’s fun, it requires hand-eye-foot coordination. You can do it on a court, on the grass, on a beach, or anywhere you can put up a net and ball. It’s about communication, and teamwork, the skills can be taught one class at a time.

Track & field

It is the most ancient of get togethers, when humans realized to drop their weapons and compete against each other in friendly competitions. This is where athletes learn to come together peacefully and enjoy what humans were meant to do physically; run, jump, throw, test their mettle and their physical attributes against each other. My purpose is to teach them different manners of movement, while maintaining sportsmanship!

HANDBALL

Fast paced movement, with a mix of basketball, soccer, hockey and lacrosse, this sport literally keeps the kids on their toes. Communication is the key to great teamwork, and success in this sport. The beauty of this sport it won’t just improve their agility, it will also improve their laughter!

Capture the flag

Imagine capture the flag without the paintballs. We’ve changed the rules a little, added a mix of tag, threw in some flag football flags, added variations to the game and then we sit back to watch the fun unravel.

Dodge ball

I promise we won’t train them by throwing wrenches at each other, but we will show them many different ways to play the sport we all loved as kids.

Flag Rugby

An international sport that is known for it’s athleticism, amazing speed, collisions, and strong behemoths moving like ballerinas. Well what if we told you that there’s no tackling in our version of rugby. Like Flag Football, we’ve incorporated flags to our rugby program, so you get a the rules, without the injuries, and a whole lot of fun!

Testimonials

“Not every child in Calgary has access to sport outside of school. Barriers cab be cultural, not understanding the importance of physical activity, financial or even accessibility.

Organized sport in Canada is expensive, and when you're a homeschool family, your funds are set and yet many of us want our kids in physical literacy and perceived.

Enter the amazing Coach Franco. Bringing together a variety of Sports activities and learning opportunities for our Homeschool kids. Not only do his classes keep them engaged and having fun, they also stress teamwork and character building.  Homeschool kid's are generally polite and caring, learning to be competitive is also a skill to learn. My boys have enjoyed the classes they attended, the new friends made and the chance to sample sports in a safe and (for me) affordable manner.

We're so happy that Coach Franco has this venture up and running and look forward to making great memories with new teammates!”

— Astrid Ritz - Calgary
